Victim or witness of an assault or an accident ? What can I do ?

I live in Belgium .

When it regards an accident, a malaise or a fire for which urgent assistance is needed (ambulance or fire brigade), you dial the number 112. In case of an assault that requires an urgent police intervention, you dial the number 101.

I am travelling in one of the Member States of the European Union.

Dial the number 112.
It is free and easy to remember. It works everywhere in the European Union. Fortunately, because you don't know the specific emergency numbers of each country by heart.

I am travelling in Belgium.

Dial the number 112 for an accident, a malaise or a fire and the number 101 for an assault.
It is free and easy to remember.

I have a mobile phone and I am either in Belgium or in one of the Member States of the European Union.

Dial the number 112.
However, if the network should not work and the message "network not available - emergency number only" appears, in principle you do not dial this number, except when you are facing an emergency situation or an assault. You feel reassured because you know that, even when the network does not work, you can call the emergency services on your mobile.
